As England's eLions prepare for the next round of their FIFAe Nations series, find out more and how to follow

What are Play Ins?

The England FIFA team, the eLions, are participating in the FIFA 23 FIFAe Nations series.

They're currently battling it out in the first stage of qualification, called the ‘Play Ins’. The goal is to progress to the next round of the competition, referred to as the play-offs, by being the top ranked team in the final week of Play ins, or to be the highest-ranked team on the consistency rankings which run across all three Play Ins, held between December and March.

England’s first two Play Ins

In Play In one, England had the best possible start, finishing top of their group, by winning seven out of eight matches and going unbeaten. In Play In two, the eLions finished second in the group behind the Netherlands.

How qualification will occur in week three

As joint top of the consistency rankings with the Netherlands, the eLions find themselves in a good position going into the third and fin

al round of Play Ins. They will be fighting it out to win the group, however, they only need to finish in the top four to progress to the play-offs.

Should they finish outside of the top four and miss out on automatic qualification to the play-offs, they will be forced to play in an additional qualifier called the ‘Online Qualifiers’ between 13-16 April which the players want to avoid.
