England goalkeeper Mary Earps has been named on the shortlist for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 and The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award.

The Lionesses shot-stopper has enjoyed another impressive year, playing every minute – and conceding only four goals – as England reached the final of the Women’s World Cup for the first time.

Earps’ performances have seen her pick up the World Cup’s Golden Glove, Best Women's Goalkeeper' at FIFA's The Best awards for 2022, England Women’s Player of the Year and the Women’s Super League Golden Glove already in 2023.

And now she has been named as one of six contenders for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 alongside Stuart Broad (cricket), Frankie Dettori (horse racing), Alfie Hewett (wheelchair tennis), Katarina Johnson-Thompson (athletics) and Rory Mcllroy (golf).

The six sport stars will compete for the public vote on the night of the live show on Tuesday 19 December.

Live from Media City, Salford, presenters Clare Balding, Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott will look back at an action-packed year of sport on BBC One and iPlayer from 7pm.
