England Football launches fun training sessions for girls aged 12-14
Following a fantastic summer of football and a historical win for the Lionesses, we are excited to unveil our latest recreational football offer - Squad Girls’ Football.
Created by England Football to bridge the gap between Weetabix Wildcats and Snickers Protein Just Play, Squad Girls’ Football provides girls wanting to get involved in football with the opportunity to do so, through the provision of a local recreational offer.
Catering for all abilities and focusing on more than just the game itself, Squad Girls’ football centres around having fun and making friends, as well as building core skills both on and off the pitch.
Sessions focus on everything from building confidence and learning key leadership skills, to perfecting basic passing and dribbling techniques.
What’s more, Squad Girls’ football sessions are extremely flexible and have been set up to allow those participating to have a say in what activities they partake in and how the sessions are run.
Additionally, all coaches delivering the sessions must have attended Squad specific training, which centres around how to make sure the needs and preferences of girls within this age bracket are catered for, to ensure a safe and comfortable space for them to enjoy football.
While the programme has launched more prominently in and around the host cities of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, sessions are currently available in more than 40 counties across England, with more locations and sessions to be added over the coming months.
Sessions, which usually run for around one hour, may have up to 20 girls in attendance and, whilst the cost per session may vary by location, attendance is usually charged at no more than £3 per session. With no commitment required, participants are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they wish, offering the perfect opportunity to give football a go with no pressure.
