UEFA EURO 2024 draw set for Saturday

Find out all the details as England will learn their opponents at UEFA EURO 2024 when the draw takes place in Hamburg this weekend

England will find out who they face at next summer’s UEFA EURO 2024 Finals in Germany, when the draw takes place on Saturday 2 December 2023.

The Three Lions sealed their spot at the Finals in October, when the 3-1 victory over Italy at Wembley before securing a place in Pot 1 of the draw following November’s results against Malta and North Macedonia.

Gareth Southgate will be in Hamburg for the draw, which will begin at 5pm GMT and you can find out more details below.

When and where is the EURO 2024 draw?

The UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament draw takes place at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany at 5pm GMT on Saturday 2 December. You can watch it live on and the official UEFA EURO 2024 app.

Who is in the draw?

Nations have been placed into pots based on their performances at during the qualifying stages., Three teams are still be confirmed following the play-offs in March, which sees 12 teams in action based on their performances in the 2022-23 Nations League.

Pot 1: Germany (hosts), Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, England

Pot 2: Hungary, Türkiye, Romania, Denmark, Albania, Austria

Pot 3: Netherlands, Scotland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czechia

Pot 4: Italy, Serbia, Switzerland, Play-off winner A, Play-off winner B, Play-off winner C

How will the EURO 2024 draw work?

Hosts Germany are seeded in Pot 1 but are not drawn as they are automatically allocated to Group A. The three eventual play-off winners have been assigned to Pot 4.

The six pots (A, B, C, D, E, F) are required to draw the respective team’s position in each group. Pots B-F contain four balls each to represent the positions available in each group (eg B1, B2, B3 and B4). Pot A contains only three balls for the positions A2, A3 and A4 in Group A, since Germany will occupy position A1.

What is the format of the EURO 2024 Finals?

Nations will play each of the other teams in their group and the top two in each of the six final groups will proceed to the round of 16 along with the four best third-placed finishers.

The tournament then enters its knockout stage with a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-final and final.
