Grassroots football clubs sit at the heart of our communities but rising energy bills and environmental pressures are making it harder for them to thrive. That’s where the Greener Game comes in.

England Football and E.ON Next have teamed up to help community clubs become more sustainable through expert guidance, practical support, and access to free energy audits and potential infrastructure improvements.

The programme is completely FREE and open to all 2* and 3* accredited clubs – whether you own your facilities or not. By offering expert advice and hands-on support, the Greener Game gives clubs the tools to reduce energy use, cut bills, and lower their environmental impact.

Sustainability shouldn’t be complicated. The Greener Game is here to make going greener simple, affordable, and achievable for every grassroots club.

Get free support, advice and opportunities to make your club greener, with sustainability initiatives and campaigns running throughout the season.

2. Apply for a FREE energy audit by 31 January 2026

Following an eligibility check, an E.ON Next expert will then carry out a detailed audit to show where your club can save money and energy.

3. Receive a FREE smart meter*

Smart meters help you save energy and cut bills by showing exactly what you’re spending in real time. To request one, email greenergame@thefa.com with:

• Club name
• Contact details for a representative
• Site address for installation
