What is the Greener Game?
The Greener Game will help community clubs thrive by becoming more sustainable. The FA and E.ON Next are partnering to support grassroots clubs to decarbonise. The programme will help clubs find out how to reduce their energy needs, cut their bills and environmental impact.
All Accredited Clubs can sign up, giving access to energy support packs, advice and guidance. During the five year programme, there will also be regular opportunities for Accredited Clubs to apply for free energy audits, delivered by E.ON Next.
In the first year of the programme, The FA will invite applications from 3* Accredited Clubs for a free energy audit to be carried out by E.ON Next. Some applications may then be considered for investment in the form of infrastructure improvements.
Why is the Greener Game important to the future of football?
The Greener Game will help clubs become more sustainable. We know that rising energy bills have hit grassroots clubs hard, especially in more deprived areas of the country. The Greener Game programme aims to encourage clubs to find out how they can reduce their energy use and bills.
This will enable clubs to spend their money on what matters most to them.
