“This is something special"

Grassroots club: Greenford Celtic

The versatile Arsenal youngster forced his way into the England senior squad for their games in October 2020, less than a year after breaking into the Gunners' first team.

Capable of playing as a full-back, wing-back or forward, and on either flank, Saka offers pace, tenacity and attacking ability and he quickly became a regular in the Arsenal squad after his initial breakthrough as an 17-year-old debutant in a Europa League tie in late 2018.

It was in the 2019-20 campaign that he really solidified his spot in Mikel Arteta's squad though, when injuries opened up a spot in the team as a left-back for him.

The Ealing-born player had also been a regular for the Young Lions before his senior call, having picked up caps right from the MU16s, MU17s, MU19s and through to his MU21s debut in September 2020, just a month before his senior call-up arrived.

Saka's England senior's debut came during the 3-0 victory over Wales in October 2020 and scored his first international goal in his fifth outing, against Austria in June 2020.

Saka's infectious personality made him a favourite among the England squad and the nation also took him into their hearts during EURO 2020.

The wide-man was outstanding when he started the final group game against Czech Republic and followed it up with another impressive showing against Germany in the last 16.

Saka was ruled out of the quarter-final win over Ukraine but he was back in the starting XI for the 2-1 win over Denmark in the semis.

There was to be penalty heartache for Saka in the final defeat to Italy but the nation's love for the youngster was shown in the next home match against Andorra, when he received the loudest cheer of the day from the Wembley crowd and marked his 20th birthday with a goal.
