DENMARK PREVIEW

Luke Shaw has been one of the standout performers at EURO 2020 - so good that even the great Roberto Carlos couldn’t help but notice.

The 25 year old has gone from strength to strength during the tournament, registering three assists in his last two games and catching the eye of a certain legendary Brazilian left-back.

After his assist for Raheem Sterling in the Germany win, the 2002 World Cup winner followed Shaw on Instagram and commented on his photo earning Shaw the nickname ‘Shawberto Carlos’ in the process.

And the 125-times-capped Brazilian has since been lauding more praise on our left-back after two more assists in the Ukraine victory - but he’s not letting it get to his head.

"After I saw he’d followed me and commented on my photo, I couldn’t believe it,” said Shaw just before boarding the bus on Tuesday’s episode of Lions’ Den connected by EE.

“I take massive respect from it.

“It’s best to ignore it all though. Inside the camp we are all very positive. Whatever has been said on the outside we just block it out.

“We know we are in a big moment and an even bigger moment in tomorrow’s game so it’s one we just have to go out and enjoy and do what we’ve been doing.”

The praise is certainly warranted after the Manchester United man enjoyed a blistering season at club level and has continued to build on that ever since arriving at St George’s Park.

But it’s all about staying composed and focused now ahead of what is sure to be another thrilling Wembley night on Wednesday.

“We’ll just relax and be calm,” Shaw added. “We’ll have a laugh on the bus and play a bit of UNO and try to take our minds off football. We just need to be calm, cool and ready.”
