Why Volunteer?
Volunteers are the heartbeat of football. Without them, the game doesn’t happen.

From coaches to treasurer, it’s people behind the scenes who make football possible every week.

That’s why football needs people like you – whether you’re a parent, a student looking or simply looking to make a difference in your community.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to:

Meet new people and feel part of a team
Make a difference in your local community
Help players enjoy football every week
Stay active - physically, mentally and socially
Be part of something bigger than matchday
Learn new skills and build experience
Use your skills to support a local club

Do I need experience?
Not at all.

Most volunteers start with little or no experience in football. What matters most is your willingness to get involved.

You’ll be supported by your club, with access to training, resources and people who can help you get started. You can begin with as little time as you like and build from there.
What roles are available?
There are lots of ways to get involved at your local club – whatever your time or experience.

You could get involved in on-pitch roles like coaching or refereeing, or help out behind the scenes helping with admin, events, fundraising or even making the tea and coffee on match days.

What’s available to help me in my role?
You won’t be on your own. There’s plenty of support to help you get started and build confidence.

We have two online courses – The FA Club Maker for young people taking their first steps into the game and Run Football for new volunteers looking to take on a committee role. Check out our Learning & Development page for more information.

If you’re a woman looking to get into volunteering, we have a conference series taking place this summer to help build your skills, grow your confidence, and understand how you can get involved in the game.

To say thanks for being a valued member of the team, we send out a monthly reward email to all our volunteers signed up to The England Football Family, offering the chance to win prizes from England tickets for your club through to Nike training kit and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
