We look back on the last year with some of the best photos from 2022

The year of 2022 will live long in the memory, with England Women and England men’s Under-19s winning their respective EUROs and one of our Para Lions side also claiming European bronze.

Here we look back on an unforgettable year with some of the best pictures of 2022 from our different England teams.

There is only one place we could start, as the Lionesses celebrate their UEFA Women’s EUROs victory, the first major trophy for a senior England side since 1966

A historic win deserves an iconic goal celebration and Chloe Kelly delivered just that when she scored what proved to be the winning goal against Germany, in a celebration which was reminiscent of that of Brandi Chastain 13 years earlier

Dancing Queen: Mary Earps followed up an outstanding performance in the final against Germany with some equally impressive dance moves in the press conference

Tournaments are not won just by the players on the pitch. There is a whole team of staff both in camp and back at Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park who help make it all possible. It is why Sarina Wiegman likes this picture so much, as the in-camp staff join the players on stage at Trafalgar Square as they celebrated with the fans

Jill Scott's personality and humour meant she was already one of Britain's most loved sportswomen before the EUROs and she showed why during the celebrations in Trafalgar Square, as she interviewed the EUROs trophy. Scott then capped off a busy year, which included her retirement from football, by winning I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

It might have got her some grief from her best mate Ella Toone but Alessia Russo's celebration after scoring against Sweden was one of pure joy. Her back-heeled goal was a remarkable finish which went viral and made the striker a household name

Just reaching the final of this summer's EUROs was a tremendous achievement and for Ellen White the whistle at the end of the semi-final with Sweden brought the striker to tears. It meant England Women's record goalscorer would have the chance to end her career on top with a EUROs Final against Germany

Beth Mead made history when she ended 2022 as the first women's footballer to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year after finishing this summer's EUROs as the competition's top scorer and helping to guide the Lionesses to a first major trophy

The Boys From Brent: As a kid growing up, Tyrick Mitchell idolised Raheem Sterling after the forward went from a talented youngster growing up in the shadows of Wembley Stadium to starring there for England. So when Mitchell, who grow up not far from Sterling, was able to follow in his footsteps by earning a first Three Lions call-up, England had another Boy from Brent to celebrate

The England men's senior team photo before the World Cup in Qatar really highlighted the togetherness and relaxed nature of the squad. It also included James Maddison doing his best Ashley Cole impression

Marcus Rashford was back to his best during the World Cup and a remote camera managed to capture this beauty during the game with Wales

They may not look it but Jude Bellingham and Jordan Henderson were happy to have scored against Senegal

England fans always travel in numbers and it was no different in Qatar. Phil Foden's goal was one of many memorable moments for supporters to celebrate during the World Cup

There were some amazing shots captured as England WU19s booked their place at last summer's EUROs, with Aggie Beever-Jones leaving the game against Belgium with the match-ball after her hat-trick...despite the best efforts of her team-mates!

England Cerebral Palsy team had high hopes of securing a medal when they entered the IFCP World Cup and although they had to settle for sixth in the end, Matt Crossen and his side produced several impressive performances in Salou

And 2022 concluded with the unveiling of the new coach and squad for England’s official esports team, the eLions. With some of the best players in the world, the eLions have high hopes as they build towards qualification for next summer's FIFAe Nations Cup
