Sustainability at UEFA EURO 2024
We and our England teams are committed to supporting UEFA EURO 2024’s sustainability pledge
We are following UEFA’s recommendations for all competing nations and aim to be as sustainable as possible during our stay this summer in Germany.
Measures being taken, including switching from air to road for one of our group-stage fixtures, minimising single-use plastics, wherever possible working within our basecamp hotel and training centre to think sustainably, and at all times respecting the natural environment in which we will be staying.
Our travel is fully in line with UEFA guidelines for competing nations, and also similar to how many other teams are travelling. We will offset our carbon footprint at the end of the tournament, once we know the extent of it, via the UEFA EURO climate fund.
This commitment is underlined by the recent announcement at Wembley Stadium with colleagues leading a unique new process to make our famous pitch 100 per cent recyclable. The project is believed to be a first in the world of football - the result of a meticulous two-year plan to find a suitable solution to recycling modern-day football pitches, which are a hybrid of grass and synthetic plastic.
