UEFA EURO 2024: FIND OUT MORE

Ahead of UEFA EURO 2024 kicking off tomorrow, we caught up with a group of England fans excited to be heading out to Germany to cheer on the Three Lions.

Among them was former England goalkeeper Ben Foster, who will be capturing content with our fans over the summer, as he heads out to support England at a major tournament for the first time.

Ben heard from fellow fans from across the country as they shared their feelings ahead of what could be one of their greatest summers ever.

Helen, who will be attending a tournament in Germany again having been out there in 2006 for the World Cup, is looking forward to "the atmosphere and the experience", whilst Bree following England abroad for the first time says she "can’t wait to create new memories with her friends and family, and just be around the atmosphere of the fanzones".

The fans spoke of the buzz around match day and how the universal language of football brings people from all nations together, with Nick, who is out in Germany for the duration, flagging ‘everyone has this one thing in common, which is football and it’s just this unifying experience’.

As well as the buzz around matchday, the group referenced the importance of following England away, in the right way. Kirsten, who is heading out to Germany for our second group game against Denmark, outlined how “we need to act as the players would. They’re acting as an example, we need to be a part of that team”.

And Helen highlighted how detrimental poor fan behaviour can be: “people don’t always understand the impact of how that can affect the team, how it can affect reputation for England fans.”

Charlie, who will be at our final group game and staying for hopefully the rest of the tournament to follow England, is hopeful of a great experience: “Everyone’s there to support England, there’s such a buzz, so it should be a positive atmosphere for everyone.”

As fans start to travel out to Germany, tournament veteran Karan, who will be attending all our group games, is already thinking of the impact a strong team run can have on the country, adding: “I’m really excited about the way England brings people together, if we go all the way, I’m excited to see that unification”.

We will be hearing more from our fans and Ben in the coming weeks, as he travels round Germany meeting fellow supporters, with content dropping on our social channels across the tournament.

Love Football. Protect the Game.
