The Prince of Wales, Patron of The Football Association, was at St. George’s Park on Monday to see the England women’s squad ahead of their departure to Switzerland for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament.

HRH met with the Lionesses squad and wished them luck ahead of the competition, after arriving in Burton and hearing from England head coach Sarina Wiegman and FA CEO Mark Bullingham about how the team have been preparing for the tournament.

His Royal Highness then dropped into a Made for This Game activity with junior girls’ football teams from primary and secondary schools, whose teams were formed after the Lionesses’ EURO victory on home soil in 2022.

The Lionesses have inspired a generation of women and girls to play football across the country, with a 56 per cent increase in participation in England since 2020.

The Made for This Game campaign will continue to provide opportunities to play and ensure the grassroots game continues to grow.

The Prince joined this session with former Lionesses Rachel Brown-Finnis and Kerry Davis and met young players, coaches and referees.

Following this, The Prince met staff and players alongside their friends and family to chat about how they are preparing for the EUROs, including those with tournament experience and those who will be competing in their first EURO tournament.

His Royal Highness also helped out in a shirt printing activity ahead of the squad’s departure for Switzerland on Monday afternoon, before presenting shirts to each of the 23-player squad selected for the tournament.

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 will run between 2 July and 27 July 2025, with England’s first match against France taking place on Saturday 5 July (8pm BST). They then tackle the Netherlands on Wednesday 9 July (5pm BST) before their final group stage fixture against Wales takes place on Sunday 13 July (8pm BST).
