Hemp tops England's fastest Wembley goals list

Lauren Hemp’s matchwinner against Spain at Wembley set a new record for the Lionesses' fastest goal at the national stadium.

The winger struck after just two minutes and 34 seconds in the 2027 World Cup qualifier, eclipsing Aggie Beever-Jones’ goal against Portugal in May 2025.

And it’s Hemp’s second appearance in the top-five fastest goals at Wembley list, following her tenth-minute effort against USA in 2022.

Hemp’s goal came following an improvised flick from Alessia Russo, after Alex Greenwood’s corner had Spain on the back foot. The ball dropped to the Manchester City winger, who swivelled to fire home despite desperate attempts to clear off the line from the Spanish defence.

"I was pretty sure [it crossed the line] to be honest,” said Hemp after the game.

“I did see it cross the line and I was just looking at the ref like, 'Hurry up and say that went in'.

“It was nice to score at Wembley. I should've kicked it a bit harder so it actually went into the net!”
