The Lionesses head coach celebrates her new deal by taking some questions from the fans

TICKETS: ENGLAND v UKRAINE

Sarina Wiegman will be Lionesses boss until 2029, and following the news that our England women’s head coach has committed to her role for another three years, she took the time to answer some of your questions.

We gave fans at the recent match with Greece in Leicester the opportunity to ask their questions to Sarina, about all manner of her role, and you can see the full video in the England app.

And we’ve picked out some of the best answers which illustrate just what the supporters and the players mean to Sarina.

Lily: What is your favourite stadium to play at?

“Well, I’ve visited a lot of stadiums, but I must admit that Wembley is my absolute favourite. Of course, because we’ve had very great experiences there – we won the EUROs, we won the Finalissima and we’ve played there for 85,000 people so very, very special.”

Eleanor – What is it like being the manager?

“Managing people is pretty tough, but I love people and I understand that every human being is very unique. What I try to do, is figure out how it works for the person that I work with. So I love to do that and I learn a lot about people every single day.”

Mia and Kisha – What’s your favourite thing about being manager of the Lionesses?

“Ooh, there’s a lot of favourite things about being manager of the Lionesses, but my favourite is that they’re very, very talented and even more, they are very ambitious players and human beings that I love to be around.”

Sophie and Andy – Why did you choose to manage the Lionesses?

“I think they first chose me! And then when I got into it and the conversations, about six years ago already, I got so excited. Of course, I knew England and I knew the players but as I had the conversation I got more and more excited and I think we got excited about each other. So then I started learning about the Lionesses and it has been really good so far.”

What’s your message to the fans?

“My message to the fans is, let’s keep going! I’m so happy that we have these great connections and that you always come to the games here in England but you also take the effort to come out to countries like the last one against Greece.

“We had like 700 fans in the stadium in Crete and I’m always grateful for that. So keep cheering for us and we keep doing our best moving forward.”

The Lionesses are back in action in November, when they take on Ukraine in the second stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying play-off.

And Sarina’s team will play the second leg at her favourite stadium, Wembley, on Saturday 5 December (5.30pm GMT) with tickets on sale now!
