Grealish on EURO dream

Jack Grealish is among the special guests who discuss the squad selection for UEFA EURO 2020

Jack Grealish says the news of him being granted England squad number seven for UEFA EURO 2020 gave him ‘goosebumps’.

And when Grealish found out that he’d be sporting the famous number seven shirt, he says it’s a moment he’ll never forget.

"It's always been one of my favourite numbers, both seven and ten,” explained Grealish, on our exclusive squad announcement live show.

"It's something I will cherish forever, as soon as I got told on a WhatsApp text I was honestly over the moon and had goosebumps. It’s a message I’ll keep forever.

"I spoke to my mum and dad as they were together at the time and I was actually shocked myself, number seven for England at a major tournament.

"That's what I've dreamt about, playing in major tournaments for England.

"I just cannot wait for it now. I think everyone in the country knows what a talented squad we have so let’s hope we can go one better than the World Cup.”
The Aston Villa man is still a relatively new face in the England camp, having made his senior debut last September following his sparking form in the Premier League.

Now, the Solihull schemer says he’s preparing to live out a childhood dream by representing his country in a major tournament.

"I'm over the moon. It wasn't too long ago that I was making my debut and now here I am in the squad,” he added.

"I knew I had the ability to do it, and I've had a good season this year, so I'm delighted.

"I found out this [Tuesday] morning when Gareth briefed us before training and told us, so I was buzzing going out for training.

"I kind of had an idea that I was in the 33 because I've had the England medical team coming in over the last few weeks to see how I've been getting on.

"But obviously the main one for me was this morning.”
