Goals from Juventus’ Sam Iling-Junior, Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett help England men's under-19s kick off their qualifying campaign in style

England men’s under-19s kicked off their UEFA Under-19 European Championship qualifying campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Andorra.

The Young Lions dominated the contest from start to finish, with 28 attempts at goal compared to their opponent’s three in Stockholm.

A double from Tottenham Hotspur striker Dane Scarlett and goals from Juventus’ Sam Iling-Junior and Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka meant MU19s went top of their qualifying group ahead of Switzerland and Sweden’s clash later today.

The four teams are looking to secure a top-two spot in the group so they progress to the next qualifying stage in Spring, which will then help whittle down to the final eight teams who will compete in the Finals in Slovakia in July.

Next up for England MU19s is Switzerland on Saturday 13 November (12noon GMT kick-off) before finishing their group against the hosts Sweden on Tuesday 16 November (5pm GMT kick-off).

The Young Lions never looked like losing today’s contest at the Skytteholms IP venue and had already had a host of chances before Iling-Junior opened the scoring midway through the first half when he followed up after Harvey Vale’s header was saved.

Chukwuemeka forced Andorra goalkeeper Marc De Castro Prat into a number of saves in the first half but finally got his goal just before half time.

The result was decided ten minutes into the second half when Aaron Ramsey set up Scarlett for his first.

And then the two were involved in the fourth goal 11 minutes later, when the Aston Villa midfielder was brought down in the penalty area and the Spurs striker converted the resulting spot kick.
