England men's under-19s slipped to a 3-1 defeat against France in the first of their three games in Marbella this month.

Ian Foster's team are preparing for next month's UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers in Sweden and came up against a French side doing likewise in this annual friendly tournament.

France took a first-half lead via Ismael Doukoure which they held on to until the break, only for Aston Villa's Aaron Ramsey to level things up midway through the second half.

But a Ronnie Edwards own goal and a late strike from Sepe Elye Wahi turned the game back in the favour of France in what was a well-contested encounter.

The Young Lions will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they face Mexico in their second game of the tournament.
