Young Lionesses make it three wins from three games in UEFA WU19 EURO qualifiers after Grace Clinton's second-half winner

England Women’s under-19s secured a 1-0 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday to make it three wins from three games in their UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers.
It took a late goal from in-form Grace Clinton to settle the encounter in Limerick, after what had been a tight affair with the Swiss.
Both teams struggled to find a breakthrough in the first half, with little action at either end of the pitch in terms of chances.
But England kept pushing and found their winner with just over ten minutes to go.
The goal arrived when Everton ace Clinton ghosted in between two Swiss defenders to head home Freya Gregory’s pinpoint free-kick from the left, ensuring Gemma Davies’ squad ended their trip with a perfect record.
After starting the group with a 1-0 win over hosts Republic of Ireland last week, they followed that up with a resounding 8-1 victory against Northern Ireland in which Clinton netted a hat-trick.
And Tuesday’s result ensures the Young Lionesses topped the group table to head into the second round next spring with the ultimate aim being to reach the EURO Finals in Czech Republic next June and July.
