We have now received the most recent application data from FIFA regarding World Cup applications and can offer some advice for those who are applying.

Before we offer any advice, it is important to understand the following:

  • The information and advice provided in this news story are based on data we received on Tuesday 26 April 2022 and are subject to change based on the final number of applications submitted by the England Supporters Travel Club members.

  • The deadline to apply is 10am UK time Thursday 28 April 2022.  Members will have until this time to submit or edit applications.

  • Caps earned from the March fixtures have now been added and will be considered in any future ballots.

  • Once the application results are finalised members will be unable to ‘pick-and-choose’ which matches they want from any they have been successful with.  As it stands, it looks likely that most applications will be successful.  We strongly advise members to consider this and only apply for the matches they wish to attend and can afford.

  • Our allocation will consist of Category 1, 2 and 3 tickets.  Our allocations can be found here.

  • Any cap cut-off advice provided will be steered by the minimum number of caps needed to secure a ticket based on every member applying for the match in question.  We do not currently have access to the individual application data and so can only provide guidance based on an ‘absolute minimum’.  The likelihood is that these cut-offs will be much lower.

  • As with previous tournament applications it is strongly advised that members should apply with people who are on a similar caps level if they plan on applying in a group

  • Separate advice will be provided regarding applications for Categories 1 to 3 and for Wheelchair/Ambulant categories.

Application Guidance and Advice: Categories 1 to 3

England v Iran

  • As it stands, we have enough tickets in both category 2 and category 3 to meet the demand from all those who have applied.

  • We suggest that all members who have applied in category 1 to move to category 2 and select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’.

  • All members who have currently applied for category 2 should also select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’.

  • Any applications with members who are on 5 caps or fewer should ensure that they select the option to ‘accept another category’.  These groups who have applied for category 3, without selecting the option to accept another category, run the risk of potentially missing out altogether.

  • By following the above instructions, we will be able to ensure as many applications as possible are successful for category 3 tickets.  As it stands, only a total of 217 members will be placed into category 2.

    England v USA

  • As it stands, we have enough tickets in category 3 to meet the demand from all those who have applied.

  • We suggest that all members move their applications to category 3 and select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’, especially if you are on 10 caps or fewer.  This is to ensure that a late flurry of applications does not ruin your chances.

  • Rest assured, we will only move applications up a category if category 3 becomes oversubscribed before the application window closes. However, based on current applications, this is unlikely.

    England v European Play-off

  • This match is the only oversubscribed match of the tournament for Travel Club members.  However, as it stands, only 613 members will be unsuccessful for this fixture.

  • Group applications whereby all members in the group have 31 caps or more are guaranteed a category 3 ticket.

  • Group applications whereby all members are on between 29 and 31 caps are advised to apply in category 3 and select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’.

  • Group applications which consist of members being on 29 caps or fewer are advised to apply for category 2 and select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’ if they want the best chance of securing tickets.  Please be aware this means there is a small chance you are allocated category 1 tickets for this fixture.

Round of 16, Quarter Final, Semi-Final and the 3rd Place Play-off

  • As it stands, we have enough tickets in category 3 to meet the demand from all those who have applied.

  • We suggest that all members move their applications to category 3 and select the option to ‘accept tickets in another category’, especially if you are on 10 caps or fewer.  This is to ensure that a late flurry of applications does not ruin your chances.

  • Rest assured, we will only move applications up a category if category 3 becomes oversubscribed before the application window closes.  However, based on current applications, this is unlikely.

    The Final

As it stands, only a total of 132 members will be placed into category 2.

Application Guidance and Advice: Accessibility Tickets

Wheelchair

Based on the current applications we are only oversubscribed by 1 ticket for England’s third group match against the winner of the European Play-off.  We will make a formal request to FIFA for an additional ticket to meet demand, but this is not guaranteed.

Easy Access/Ambulant

As it stands, we are oversubscribed for all matches in the Easy Access/Ambulant category.  We have made a formal request to FIFA for additional tickets to meet the demand in this category, however, this is not guaranteed.  We will update members in due course, however, it looks likely that it will be necessary to conduct a ballot for this category, for each match.

Hopefully, the above information will help you finalise your application and give you the option to apply for cheaper category tickets should you wish.
