England's game with Italy on Saturday 11 June will be behind closed doors but fans will be able to attend the Hungary clash on Tuesday 14 June

Wolverhampton will host England Men’s UEFA Nations League home fixtures in June 2022.

Molineux will be the stage for matches against Italy on Saturday 11 June (7.45pm kick-off) and Hungary on Tuesday 14 June (7.45pm kick-off).

The meeting with the Italians will be played behind closed doors, as per a sanction imposed by UEFA in October 2021. However, the visit of Hungary will be open to supporters with ticket details to be confirmed in due course.

Staging both fixtures in the West Midlands continues the trend of taking the senior men’s national team on the road ahead of a major tournament.

Since the build up to UEFA EURO 2016, the Three Lions have played in Sunderland, Manchester, Leeds and Middlesbrough. Gareth Southgate’s squad also visited Leicester in September 2018 and Southampton in September 2019.

The senior men’s team have played at Molineux on four previous occasions with the last of those coming in December 1956; a 1958 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Denmark that ended 5-2 to England.

The stadium also welcomes England Women for an Arnold Clark Cup fixture against Germany on Wednesday 23 February (7.30pm kick-off) and has hosted the MU21s on several occasions.

Southgate said: “While Wembley is our home, we very much enjoy taking the squad on the road where possible, particularly in the run up to a major tournament.

“2022 promises to be an exciting adventure for England fans and it is great that one of English football’s famous stadiums will be a part of that.

“I know from my time in charge of the U21s how much a Molineux crowd embraces the experience of international football, so we look forward to returning to Wolverhampton in June.”
