Opta stats: England 8-0 Norway
England secured their place in the UEFA Women's EURO 2022 quarter-final with a group game to spare, after their 8-0 win over Norway in Brighton.
We can now look back in more detail at the victory for Sarina Wiegman's side with Opta's stat analysis of the performance, as the Lionesses turn their attention to Friday's game with Northern Ireland in Southampton.
● England became the first side in European Championship history (both men's & women's) to score more than six goals in a single game, while their 8-0 win against Norway was the biggest margin of victory in a UEFA Women’s EUROs match.
● England have won six of their last nine matches against Norway in all competitions (D1 L2), having lost eleven of their first 12 games (D1) against them before this run.
● England are unbeaten in all 16 matches under manager Sarina Wiegman (W14 D2), extending the longest unbeaten run in their history. Over this period, they have scored 93 goals while conceding only three in return.

● England’s six first half goals equalled the most goals ever scored by a team in a full game in UEFA Women's Euros history before this evening (Germany 6-2 v England in 2009 and England 6-0 v Scotland in 2017).
● Beth Mead, who scored a hat-trick and provided one assist, has been directly involved in 29 goals for England under Sarina Wiegman (18 goals, eleven assists), nine more than any other player in this period.
● Mead became just the second player to score a hat-trick for the Lionesses at the UEFA Women’s EUROs (also Jodie Taylor v Scotland in 2017), netting with all three of her shots on target this evening.
● At 33 years & 63 days old, Ellen White became the second oldest player to score 2+ goals in a UEFA Women’s Euros game after Carolina Morace for Italy also against Norway in 1997 (33y & 151d).
