Para Lions pick up weekend wins over Poland and Romania at IBSA Euros in Italy
England men’s blind team made a strong start to the IBSA European Championship in Italy, with two wins from their first two games.

The Para Lions are in Pescara for the competition and kick-started their group round with a 4-0 victory over Poland on Saturday and followed that up with the same scoreline over Romania on Sunday.

Adam Bendall’s squad took just eleven minutes of their opener to get things going as Roy Turnham put England ahead against Poland before substitute Dan English doubled the advantage two minutes later.

And second-half strikes from Turnham and Owen Bainbridge ensured it was a positive start for the Para Lions, who finished third at the last IBSA EUROs in 2019.

Sunday morning saw Romania in opposition and after a goal-less first half, England found their range after the break as a brace apiece for English and Turnham was enough to seal victory.

England now face their final two group games against Germany on Monday and Spain on Tuesday, with matches being streamed on the official IBSA YouTube channel.
