Young Lions to kick off season of U21 EURO preparation with two games against fellow finalists in September
England men's under-21s will host Germany at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane on Tuesday 27 September (7.45pm BST kick-off).

The Young Lions have already secured their place at the 2023 U21 EURO in Romania and Georgia next summer after topping their group in the final round of fixtures earlier this month.

And the date with the Germans - alongside an away fixture to Italy on Thursday 22 September – will form a key part of England’s preparation for their ninth successive U21 EURO finals.

Reigning U21 EURO champions Germany and Italy will also make up spots at the 16-team tournament to be played in June 2023.

Highlights: England MU21s 2-1 Ukraine

Take a look back at the last time our Young Lions were in action at Bramall Lane

MU21s head coach Lee Carsley said: “England-Germany is always a fixture to look forward to for any of our age groups and to be playing this latest chapter at a venue as historic as Bramall Lane will make this one all the more special.

“After a successful qualification campaign, it’s now time for us to get ready for an exciting summer in 2023 and there is no better preparation than fixtures against Italy and Germany.”

Bramall Lane last hosted the MU21s in March 2018; a 2-1 2019 U21 EURO qualifying victory over Ukraine. The home of the Blades is also a 2022 UEFA Women’s EURO host venue this summer.

The MU21s’ schedule will replicate that of the senior men who travel to San Siro to face Italy on Friday 23 September before concluding UEFA Nations League Group A3 against Germany at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Monday 26 September.
