Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor get World Cup call-up

Six English officials have been selected for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar this December
England will be represented by six match officials at the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar this December.
 
The list of referees, assistant referees and video assistant referees was named by FIFA on Thursday.

And Premier League referees Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor were selected for the tournament, along with assistant referees Simon Bennett, Gary Beswick, Stuart Burt and Adam Nunn.

For Northumberland-based Oliver, it will be his first major international tournament appearance having previously refereed at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland in 2019.

It's a second major international tournament appointment for Taylor, who previously refereed in last summer's UEFA EURO 2020 competition.

The World Cup will take place in Qatar from 21 November until 18 December 2022.
