Young Lions end their trip to Spain with victory over Australia at the Pinatar Arena
England men’s under-20s ended their trip to Spain with a third win from three games on Tuesday evening, after seeing off Australia by 3-0.

After beating Chile and Morocco in their first two games, Ian Foster’s side ensured they’d return home with plenty to be proud of as they began their preparations for next summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.

First-half goals from Daniel Jebbison and Aaron Ramsey set the Young Lions on their way before a strike from Samuel Edozie after the break added to the tally.

England could’ve also opened the scoring earlier than they did, when Edozie was tripped in the area to earn his side a penalty in the 20th minute. Ramsey stepped up, but Aussie goalkeeper Jack Warshawsky guessed right and dived to his right to turn the England skipper’s shot away to safety.

The Young Lions didn’t have to wait long for the opener though, as Jebbison struck England ahead just after the half-hour mark with a shot from the right of the area.
Australia really should have been level within a minute though, as England were caught out while playing out from the back with Matthew Cox’s pass intercepted. Archie Goodwin struck a shot at goal, but Cox somehow recovered to get back and tip the ball to safety as it flew towards the top corner.

The Socceroos were made to pay for that miss too, as five minutes later England had doubled their lead as captain Ramsey finished off a move with a neat finish in the area.

The second half was just five minutes old when England made it 3-0 thanks to Edozie as he jinked his way in from the right before hitting a left-footer which beat Warshawsky thanks to a deflection off a defender.

There were half chances beyond that, but the Aussies put on a resolute and determined display in defence to keep the scoreline down as England enjoyed the majority of the ball.
