England's Powerchair development squad land Home Nations title in Scotland
Para Lions squad win four out of four games at competition in Largs
England’s Powerchair development squad had a successful trip to Scotland over the Easter weekend to participate in a Development Home Nations Cup.
Coaches Adam Crowle and Adam McEvoy took a seven-strong squad to the Sport Scotland National Sports Training Centre in Largs, where the Para Lions faced four games against the host’ A and B teams, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
Kicking-off against Scotland A on Good Friday, England received an early wake up call, as they conceded a sloppy first minute goal. However, the team collected themselves and secured a 5-1 win thanks to goals from Dan McLellan, Dan Rigby (2), Oli Crawshaw and an own goal.
They followed on against Northern Ireland in their Saturday afternoon fixture. Playing some excellent passing football - including an unbroken eleven pass sequence for one of the goals - a brace apiece from Matthew Gilbert, McLellan, Crawshaw and one from Tyler Reeve saw the team cruise to a 7-0 win.
With two wins from two, Scotland B attempted to stifle England's passing play on Easter Sunday morning. Despite some early success, England's quality broke the Scottish defence five times in a 5-1 win. Goals from Reeve (2), Rigby, Gilbert and an own goal gave the squad their third win.
