England WU17s and WU19s discover UEFA EURO second round opponents

England women’s under-17s and under-19s now know their opponents on the road to qualification for their respective European Championships next summer.

The WU17s and WU19s both progressed from round one of qualification earlier this year with flying colours to ensure they were in the hat for Friday’s round two draws at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

In round one of qualification, the under-17s won all three games, scoring 20 goals without conceding, whilst the under-19s followed suit with three consecutive victories, scoring 9 goals and conceding just once.

At both ages, there are seven League A groups for each tournament and only the winner progresses to next summer’s finals alongside the hosts, unless the host team win their pool and then the best runner-up also advances.

England’s WU17s will take on Italy, Greece and Serbia in Group A6 in March, as they look to book a spot at the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship finals, which will take place in Sweden between 5-18 May.

As for England’s WU19s, the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship will be held in Lithuania in July and England have been joined in Group A3 by Italy, Switzerland and Portugal, with the qualification fixtures set to take place in April.
