Anthony Taylor and his team will be in Morocco for 2023 FIFA showpiece final

The FIFA Club World Cup Final is set to be contested between Real Madrid and Al Hilal on Saturday 11 February in Morocco, and England will be represented by three match officials.

FIFA has announced that Anthony Taylor (Cheshire FA), Gary Beswick (Durham FA) and Adam Nunn (Wiltshire FA) have been appointed for the Final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Taylor will take charge as the match referee, with support from Beswick and Nunn as assistant referees, and they will be joined by China’s Ning Ma as the fourth official.

The appointments represent another strong vote of confidence for Taylor and his team, following recent appointments for both UEFA EURO 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“Being selected for this high-profile match makes me extremely proud of my team and we’re very much looking forward to the final," said Taylor.

"We wouldn’t be here without the ongoing support of our friends and family, which means a lot to us. Hopefully this acts as an inspiration for match officials in England and builds on the success our refereeing teams have had at international tournaments in recent times.”

Beswick added: “We’ve put in years of dedication to refereeing so receiving this appointment is a fantastic achievement for us. I'm proud of our team ethic and spirit - something I feel encapsulates English refereeing for whom we represent every time we take to the field overseas. I hope this helps inspire future generations.”

And Nunn said: “This appointment is a very proud moment for our team as we continue to represent English football and match officials abroad in the best possible way. This is another great opportunity to perform on the biggest stage and makes all of our hard work, dedication and sacrifice worthwhile. Hopefully this will inspire others to go onto achieve similar things in the future.”

VAR will also be in action throughout the Final, with match officials from Italy, China, the United States of America and Morocco on hand where required.

Congratulations and the best of luck to Anthony, Gary and Adam from everyone at England Football.
