A 1-1 draw with Norway sees Young Lionesses secure their spot at EURO Finals in May

England women’s under-17s secured their spot at this summer’s UEFA U17 Women’s EURO Finals, after sharing a 1-1 draw with Norway in Hrvace.

Natalie Henderson’s side have been in Croatia for the last week for the second round of qualifiers, and picked up two wins from their first two games against the host nation and Belgium.

That meant the Young Lionesses knew they could seal a place at the Finals in Estonia if they were to avoid defeat on Saturday morning.

They took a firm step towards qualification in the first half, when Michelle Agyemang was fouled in the box leading to a penalty in the 36th minute.

Ava Baker stepped up to give England the lead and it looked as though they’d be in front at the break, only for Norway’s Tomine Svendheim to equalise in first-half stoppage time.

But Norway couldn’t find a breakthrough in the second half, meaning a point was enough for England to top the table.

This means Henderson’s side will compete in the Finals, which are being held in Estonia between 14-26 May.
