Young Lions boss Ian Foster has picked his squad for the trip to Argentina this month

The England men’s under-20s squad has been named for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina later this month.

Head coach Ian Foster has picked a 21-man squad for the trip to South America, where the Young Lions will take on Tunisia, Uruguay and Iraq in their group stage games later this month.

England qualified for the World Cup, which was initially scheduled to take place in Indonesia before it was switched to Argentina earlier this year, after winning last season’s U19 EURO title.

And the squad which heads across the Atlantic contains 16 of the players who won that competition under Foster in Slovakia last summer.

Among the group are four players who are currently with clubs involved in the EFL play-off games, with semi-finals scheduled to take place over the next seven days with the finals across 26-28 May. Those players will link up with the England squad once their involvement in those games has concluded.

The Young Lions will be based in the capital of Buenos Aires for their group stage games, which will all be played at the La Plata Stadium.

They kick-off on Monday 22 May when they take on Tunisia (7pm BST), before Uruguay are their second opponents on Thursday 25 May (7pm BST).

The final group match with Iraq takes place on Sunday 28 May (7pm BST), with the top two nations from the group progressing into the round of 16 knockout stage, which take place on Thursday 31 May and Friday 1 June.

From there, quarter-finals are scheduled for 3-4 June, semi-finals on 8 June before the final takes place back at the La Plata Stadium.
