ENGLAND MU21s: FIND OUT MORE

England men’s under-21s begin a new qualifying campaign for the next UEFA U21 EURO in September when they travel to face Luxembourg.

The Young Lions’ last cohort of players landed the U21 EURO title in July and head coach Lee Carsley now has a new batch of players who will aim to defend the title.

And Carsley has selected a 23-man squad for the first match of the qualifying campaign, which takes place on Monday 11 September (5pm BST).

Seven of the squad who won the EURO title are young enough to feature for the MU21s again in the next campaign, so the experience of captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis, James Trafford, Jarrad Branthwaite, Charlie Cresswell, Harvey Elliott, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke will provide a strong base for Carsley.

Joining them in the new squad are a number of players who featured in last season’s MU20s group who played in the FIFA U20 World Cup, while there's also a first England call-up at any level for Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle and Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney returns to the fold for the first time since playing at MU15 level.

The squad will assemble at St. George’s Park next week to begin preparations for their game in Luxembourg.

Their first home fixture of the campaign will take place when Serbia are the visitors to the City Ground in Nottingham on Thursday 12 October (7.45pm BST) with tickets now on sale for that game.
