England men’s deaf team beat Germany by 2-1 on Saturday morning to secure a fifth-place finish at this year’s Deaf EUROs in Turkiye.
The Para Lions have been in Antalya for the last two weeks for this competition and finish with a record of six wins from their seven game, with their only defeat coming against the host nation Turkiye in a hotly-contested quarter-final.
And the team led by Sam Sharman, Will Perkins and Tony Elliot ensured they finished the tournament on a high with a second victory over Germany following on from their meeting in the group stage.
Both of England’s goals came from set-pieces, with Oliver Manoochehri getting on the end of a corner from the right to flick home a header in the 22nd minute.
Germany his straight back though, as they hit England from the restart with a break and run into the box down the right leading to a simple finish from the centre of the box.
But England found their winner just before half time, when a corner from the same side found Cav Donaldson at the far post and he volleyed home emphatically to put England back in front.
