The Lionesses will start the defence of their EURO title with Women's European Qualifiers to reach the Finals in Switzerland next year

Sarina Wiegman’s team will begin their defence of the EURO title next month, with games to take place during the women’s international windows of April, May/June and July.

The Lionesses were drawn out in group three of League A, having been placed in pot two of the draw which was made at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon and hosted by their women's football managing director Nadine Kessler and former Switzerland goalkeeper Gaelle Thalmann.

To qualify for the Finals which take place in Switzerland during July 2025, England will need to finish in the top two of their group after playing their six games at home and away against each nation.

The top two of the four League A groups will all automatically qualify for the Finals, with a further seven places available via the play-offs.

There will be two rounds of the play-off, with the first round split into two ‘paths’. In the first path, those who finish third and fourth in League A will play the five group winners and three best runners-up from League C, with the eight victors progressing to the next stage.

The second path for the first round of play-offs sees the four group winners and two best-ranked runners-up in League B take on the other two runners-up and four third-placed teams in League B, with six sides moving on to the second round of play-offs.

Seeding will then come into play for the teams remaining in round two of the play-offs, as the seven highest-ranked teams are then drawn in seven ties against the other sides. Those seven winners will then progress to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 finals which take place from 2-27 July 2025.
