Report: England MU18s 1-1 Switzerland
England men's Under-18s were cruelly denied victory over Switzerland at the Lafarge Tournament after conceding a last-minute equaliser, before drawing a penalty shoot-out 5-5.
Liam Bramley's side had dominated for long spells at the Beaublanc Stadium and led via Trevan Sanusi's first-half strike before the Swiss hit back.
England were on top for large parts of the opening period, immediately going close through Christopher Rigg after just two minutes.
Goalkeeper Thorsten Spike Brits was called into action after seven minutes but the Young Lions were soon back on top, Shumaira Mhueka hitting the post after good work down the left from Jack Fletcher.
Sanusi was causing problems and scored his side's opener just before half-time, cutting in from the left flank and firing low into the corner.
The second half was less eventful, with Bramley's side seemingly on their way to a comfortable win.
Switzerland were rewarded for a late foray forward, however, and forced the game to spot-kicks.
Jesse Derry, Souleymane Sidibe, Douglass Lukjianciks, Joshua King and Ollie Harrison all scored from 12 yards to ensure the spoils were shared.
The Under-19s are next in action against France at the same venue on Sunday.
