The Manchester City ace speaks after impact on his return to the Three Lions squad

MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND 2-0 SERBIA

Phil Foden has spoken of his joy at being back on duty with England, after making an instant impact on his return to Thomas Tuchel’s squad in the win over Serbia.

The Manchester City forward was named in Tuchel’s squad for November’s games with Serbia and Albania after missing the first two camps of the season.

And Foden showed his worth after being introduced as a second-half substitute at Wembley on Thursday evening, providing a perfect pass for fellow replacement Eberechi Eze to make it 2-0 and seal a seventh successive win in World Cup qualifying.

“It’s amazing to be back,” admitted Foden.

“I’m so happy to be back in the squad with these great players and I'm enjoying it.

"I thought I did well. I created some chances, we were unlucky not to put a few away. Overall, I have to be happy with the impact.”

Foden is hoping that his versatility across the forward line and his form at club level can help him to keep his place in Tuchel’s thoughts as the Three Lions prepare to head into a World Cup year after their final internationals of 2025.

“Wherever the manager puts me, I can play multiple positions,” he said.

“I was happy to come on as a false nine. Maybe that will get the best out of me. Only time will tell.

“There’s quality players all over the pitch, and the pressure is on to perform well at my club. I will just keep my head down and try and earn my place.”

The Three Lions are in action for the final time of 2025 when they head to Tirana to play Albania on Sunday 16 November (5pm GMT).
