Report: France 1-0 England Powerchair
The Para Lions were unable to find a way past France in the final of the EPFA Nations Cup
POWERCHAIR FOOTBALL: MORE
The England Powerchair squad lost out to France in the EPFA Nations Cup final, slipping to a 1-0 defeat in Italy.
The Para Lions were looking to defend their title heading into the match-up, having won the tournament back in 2019, beating the same opponents on penalties in the showpiece six years ago in Finland.
However, after making back-to-back EPFA Nations Cup finals, England were narrowly beaten.
Just moments after captain Jon Bolding produced a goal-saving block, England’s defence couldn’t keep out France a second time as the opposition took the lead through a well-worked indirect free-kick routine with seven minutes played.
After having another goal ruled out during the first half, France took a 1-0 lead into the break, with all still to play for in a cagey contest at the Bella Italia Village.
However, after a goalless second period, it was France who were crowned champions after the full-time whistle signalled the end of the game.
