Practice makes perfect
“The only way I can truly get to where I want to be is by practicing every single day. The more practice allows you to be free in the mind, come game day.
“It’s not about being an amazing player, it’s about your preparation and practice. You practice enough in those moments, you get your body position right – it’s the only way to get better and it’s the only way to be consistent.
“The best way you’re going to perform is to be completely free in the mind, play off instinct and the only way you can do that with confidence is through practice.”

A good goalkeeper
“I love Deano [Dean Henderson]. No matter what you play with Deano, he’s competitive and I’m the same way, so we clash but I love that. It pushes me, it brings the best out of me and I think he does, as well.
“He loves saving my shots, he loves trying to wind me up. I love that because it tests my ability to really come back into the moment and be able to score past him.
“It’s what I need – I need practice, I need repetition. Like I said, it allows me to be free in the mind come game time.”
Body positioning
“Your body position when it comes to finishing is probably 70 percent or 80 percent of what’s important because when you’re off-balance, when you’re running too fast, when you’re not able to slow yourself down – which I do quite often, so I can tell you first-hand – that’ll always be when I finish poorly.
“If my body position is right, if my legs are sort of locked under the ball and head is over it, I’ll always finish well.
The first touch
“Your first touch is massive because it kind of dictates where your body needs to go but the next bit is key because once your head is over it, like I said, your body is underneath you and sort of tight and locked and not stretching.
“Everything is really set and you can go through the ball. Once you kick the ball, if you’ve done everything right, you can have no regrets.”
Need for speed
“It's definitely harder when you’ve got a defender chasing you and you’re in full speed. Because I’m quick, sometimes my biggest battle is getting into the position and then slowing right down.
“The best thing I can do is run really fast, slow down, take a breath in the box and understand that actually, now I can control everything that happens because now the defender can’t touch me because I’m in the box.”
Learning from the best
“I’ve been speaking to H [Harry Kane] and trying to gain as much knowledge from him as I possibly can because he can do it off both feet, doesn’t matter the angle, doesn’t matter his touch, the ball finds a way in the net. I’ve been trying to pick up a little bit off him.”
