Report: Venezuela 0-1 England MU17s
Barry Lewtas' Young Lions won their second game out in Germany
England men’s under-17s were 1-0 winners over Venezuela in the third of four games to be played across the international window.
The Young Lions beat the Republic of Ireland in their first fixture at St. George’s Park before heading out to Germany for a three three-match tournament.
And Barry Lewtas’ side followed up a 2-1 win over Israel in their first game in Duisburg with victory over Venezuela.
The Young Lions took the lead mid-way through the first half. Jai Nwosu and Javahn Woode – both on their first England camps – combined. Woode’s cross in from the left was glanced in by Nwosu for his first international goal.
Later in the first period, Venezuela were reduced to ten-men after Marco Villarreal was shown a second yellow card, resulting in a red.
A goalless second half followed, with head coach Lewtas making a number of changes, as England made it three wins from three.
The MU17s are back in action on Sunday 4 October (11am BST kick-off) when they face tournament hosts Germany.
