Tuchel: 'A complete performance'
England head coach reflects on his team's display in the 7-0 victory over Croatia
The Three Lions were in devastating form in Rijeka, finding themselves four goals ahead at the break thanks to goals from Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka.
Kane and Saka added their second goal each after the break before Morgan Rogers wrapped things up at 7-0 in the later stages, leaving Tuchel to describe it as a “complete performance”.
“From everyone, and from the first until the last minute, from everyone who started and everyone who came from the bench - that was the highest level and congratulations to the team,” said the England head coach.
“It was very, very impressive. We created so many chances.
“In the first 40 minutes we were so fluid, right from the start. I remember looking at the clock, and I thought, wow, this was a good first three minutes.
“And then I looked again and I said, oh, it was a good seven minutes, and it just never stopped.
“We just kept the pace up and played through the gaps and we were very, very clinical.
“We stayed hungry, in our counter-pressing and defending and we got the basics right.
“I love the attitude, we always played humble, and we always got the basics right, and that's why it was a complete performance.”
And anything to improve on?
“If you want to be picky, maybe three minutes after the 3-0, where we had the big mistake and some easy ball losses,” he added.
“But that was a 90-minute performance on the highest level.”
The Three Lions now return to home soil for their final game of the international window when they play Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday evening. Tickets for that game are on sale now.
