Lionesses to face Ukraine in World Cup play-off
The two teams will meet over two legs in November and December
The Lionesses will play Ukraine in Round 2 of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 qualification play-offs.
Sarina Wiegman’s side reached the second round of the play-offs with a 8-1 aggregate victory over Greece, who they beat 3-1 away and 5-0 in the second leg at the King Power Stadium.
Ukraine qualified after beating Slovakia 4-1 on aggregate.
The teams will meet over two legs between 26 November - 5 December, with the winner set to progress to next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
England’s superior finish in the league phase of qualification meant they were one of the seeded teams when the draw was made back in June, which means they will have home advantage in the second leg of the tie.
The Lionesses played Ukraine twice in the league phase, winning 6-1 away and 3-0 in the home game at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.
