Take a look through the head coach's time with England Women in numbers from her time in charge

Sarina Wiegman has now been England women’s head coach for just over five years, having taken over in September 2021 and won two UEFA Women’s EURO titles since.

The Lionesses have won EURO 2022 and EURO 2025 under the management of Wiegman and her technical team, while also reaching the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final in 2023.

The Dutch coach has won just less than 71 per cent of her matches with the Lionesses, 58 wins from 82 games.

And the team have had a remarkable knack of avoiding defeats in major tournaments in the last five years.

Key Stats

England have scored 3+ goals in each of their last three games; their longest run since a four-game streak in December 2023/February 2024.

Among those to oversee 5+ games for the national team, Sarina Wiegman still ranks top for both win rate (70.7%) and goals per game (3.24).

England have kept a clean sheet in 52.4% of their games under Sarina Wiegman (43/82); it’s their second-best rate under managers with 5+ games in charge of the national team.

England have won each of their last seven home matches in all competitions; they’ve only enjoyed longer winning runs in April 2013 (13) and October 1978 (8).

Here’s a look at the Lionesses’ record with Wiegman in numbers.

Wiegman’s England record

  • Games played: 82
  • Games won: 58
  • Games drawn: 13
  • Games lost: 11
  • Goals scored: 266
  • Goals conceded: 58
  • Win percentage: 71%

Of those eleven defeats, only two of them have come in the two biggest tournaments in the calendar, the UEFA Women’s EUROs and FIFA Women’s World Cup. One loss apiece.

Sarina Wiegman is presented as the Lionesses' head coach after her appointment in 2021

Wiegman’s record by competition

Internationals: 20 games | 13 wins | 4 draws | 3 defeats | 58 goals | 15 conceded

Women’s European World Cup Qualifiers: 18 | 17 | 0 | 1 | 101 | 6

UEFA Women’s EUROs: 12 | 9 | 2 | 1 | 38 | 9

UEFA Women’s Nations League: 12 | 7 | 1 | 4 | 31 | 14

FIFA Women’s World Cup: 7 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 13 | 4

Arnold Clark Cup: 6 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 16 | 4

UEFA Women’s Championship Qualifiers: 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 8 | 5

CONMEBOL/UEFA Women’s Finalissima: 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1

Across those 82 matches, England have found the net 266 times, while conceding just 58 goals.

That gives Wiegman’s side an average of more than three goals scored per game during her time in charge, with the Lionesses keeping their opponents to fewer than one goal per match on average.

And while Wiegman already has the best win percentage among England’s long-serving managers, she is also closing in on another landmark.

Her 266 goals are the second-most scored by an England women’s team under a single manager.

The next opportunity to add to these records is in the November and December international window, when the Lionesses face Ukraine in a two-legged FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 qualification play-off.

Wiegman’s side host Ukraine at Wembley on Saturday 5 December at 5.30pm GMT. The first leg date is still to be confirmed.

Should they progress, the Lionesses will progress to next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
