The tall, rangy, technical and powerful midfielder earned his first England call-up since 2019 when Thomas Tuchel added him to the squad for games with Andorra and Serbia in September 2025.

After moving to Italy and catching the eye with Serie A giants AC Milan, Loftus-Cheek played his way back into contention having left Chelsea in 2023 after coming through the academy ranks since the age of eight and making over 150 appearances for Stamford Bridge club as well as loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham in his formative years.

The Lewisham-born player had been an England regular throughout the development teams earlier in his career, and it was with the MU21s under Gareth Southgate when he began to impress, with Southgate eventually calling him up to the senior squad in November 2017 after taking on the role of England manager.

He was part of the squad which travelled to Russia for the 2018 World Cup and played a part as the Three Lions reached the semi-final before he was involved in the inaugural UEFA Nations League campaign the following season.
