England blind team miss out on a place in IBSA EURO Final after semi-final setback in Pescara

PARA FOOTBALL: FIND OUT MORE

England men's blind team suffered semi-final heartbreak in Pescara on Wednesday afternoon, as they lost on a penalty shootout against Turkey.

After coming through their group stage with four wins from four games, the Para Lions approached their first knockout game in confident mood.

And the two teams couldn't be separated in normal time, meaning the tie was determined from the penalty spot.

It was Turkey who came out on top, scoring twice from the spot to seal their place in the final and avenge their defeat to England in the third-place play-off game at the last IBSA EURO in 2019.

The Para Lions will now be back in action on Friday, when they play to decide third place at the competition.

England: 1 Dylan Malpas, 3 Owen Bainbridge (c), 5 Dan English, 7 Brandon Coleman, 9 Roy Turnham

Substitutes: Rainbow Mbuangi for Turnham
