Young Lionesses settle for a draw with the Danes in final UEFA Women's U19 EURO qualifying group game
England Women’s under-19s rounded off their UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Denmark on Tuesday afternoon.

Both nations went into the game having recorded victories over Slovenia and host nation Slovakia in their first two games, but Emma Coates and her team knew they needed a win to secure top spot in the group due to Denmark’s superior goal difference.

And after a goal-less first half, it was looking good for the Young Lionesses when Jessica Simpson opening the scoring just before the hour mark.

Cutting in from the left, Simpson cleverly lobbed the Danish keeper Vingum Andersen to put England ahead.

The lead only lasted ten minutes though, as defender Ida Marie Jorgensen got on the end of a corner from Anna Walter to draw the Danes level.

That set up a grandstand finish to the game with both teams in search of a winner, but with neither finding a breakthrough they had to settle for a draw and Denmark ending as group leaders.

Both nations will now progress to the next stage of qualification with the target being to reach the Finals in Belgium next summer.
