Brace from Poppy Pritchard and a goal from Lexi Potter saw the Young Lionesses mount an impressive comeback

England women’s under-19s performed an impressive second-half comeback to draw 3-3 with Germany at St. George’s Park on Tuesday.

Head coach Amy Merricks made wholesale changes to the side which beat Denmark 5-0 on Wednesday, with centre-back Brooke Aspin the only player to retain her place.

Germany were in control at half-time as they led 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Hamburg’s Melina Kruger.

But England pulled a goal back straight after half-time when Poppy Pritchard scored after a through ball on the left.

Pritchard then grabbed a second just before the hour when Lexi Potter took the ball down in the middle of the pitch and passed to the Durham striker, who dribbled past the defence before scoring.

And the remarkable turnaround reached new heights when England took the lead nine minutes later as Katy Watson crossed, Pritchard laid the ball off and Potter struck the ball into the top corner.

But the game was to finish level as Germany pulled a goal back through Lilith Schmidt with 13 minutes remaining.
