Luke Shaw says England will be doing ‘everything to bring that trophy home’ when they face Spain in the UEFA EURO 2024 Final on Sunday.

The Three Lions defender was part of the team who lost against Italy in the final of EURO 2020 three years ago, after opening the scoring at Wembley before suffering the heartache of a penalty shootout defeat.

And as Gareth Southgate and his squad make history as the first men’s team to reach a major final overseas, Shaw and his teammates are only interested in making their own history by winning the title.

"That history doesn't matter, we've now got one more game and we have to do everything to bring that trophy home,” said Shaw, following the semi-final victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday evening.

"We still have one more game to go, but of course I'm very happy and privileged to be out there on the pitch and obviously to get to another EURO Final.”

The defender, who will turn 29 while in camp on Friday, spoke earlier in the week about his own battle to be fit to play in Germany after injury hadn’t seen him feature for Manchester United since February.

He had to miss all of the group games and the round of 16 win over Slovakia before he first featured in the quarter-final against Switzerland.

And he paid tribute to Ollie Watkins who turned out to be England’s match winner against the Dutch after coming on as a late substitute.

"It's hard to put into words, we're so happy for Ollie,” he added.

"I said to the press the other day that the people who haven't played many minutes, you never know when your chance will come and you have to be ready and for me that was exactly why I said it.

"Ollie hadn't played too long and had an opportunity to come on tonight and he took it.”
