When Harry Kane takes to the pitch at Wembley against Finland on Tuesday, he will become the tenth player to win 100 caps for the England men’s national team and first to hit that milestone since Wayne Rooney in November 2014.

Rooney scored in a 3-1 win over Slovenia to mark the occasion and is the only player to score on their 100th cap since Sir Bobby Charlton in 1970. Charlton's goal also came in a 3-1 victory, against Northern Ireland.

In his 99 caps so far, Kane has scored 66 goals and has assisted 17 goals for his teammates. Since his debut in March 2015 against Lithuania, Kane has scored 46 more goals than any other England player, while no player has more assists than he does in that time.

He is England’s record scorer, breaking Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 53 goals with a strike against Italy in March 2023. He currently has 66 goals in 99 caps.

Kane’s 99 caps have come under four different managers, making his debut under Roy Hodgson and playing 16 times for him, scoring five goals.

There then came an appearance in Sam Allardyce’s only game in 2016 before playing 81 games and scoring 61 goals under Gareth Southgate.

It’s comfortably the most goals any player has scored under a single manager and only three players have ever appeared more times for one manager in England’s history - Billy Wright under Walter Winterbottom (105), Bobby Moore under Alf Ramsey (100) and Peter Shilton under Bobby Robson (83).

Kane then started on Saturday in Lee Carsley’s first game in charge against the Republic of Ireland to register 99 caps before it was confirmed that his 100th cap would follow in the game with Finland.

Kane has won 29 of his 99 caps at major tournaments for England (eleven at the FIFA World Cup, 18 at the EUROs), more than any other player in England’s history. He is also England’s record scorer at major tournaments with 15 goals.

Only Wayne Rooney (27) has made more appearances for England in UEFA European Championship qualifiers than Kane (21). His record in these qualifying games is exceptional – Kane has 23 goals and eight assists in 21 matches, averaging a goal or assist every 49 minutes.

Competition breakdown:

FIFA World Cup: 8 goals in 11 games
UEFA European Championship Finals: 7 goals in 18 games
UEFA World Cup Qualifiers: 17 goals in 14 games
UEFA European Championship Qualifiers: 23 goals in 21 games
UEFA Nations League: 3 goals in 19 games
Friendlies: 8 goals in 16 games

Kane has faced 44 different countries with England, playing against Italy (six) and Switzerland (five) most often. He has either scored or assisted against all but ten of those countries, with Belgium the only nation he has faced more than once without scoring or assisting against. Tuesday’s game against Finland will see him face them for the first time.

The England captain has played 34 games at Wembley for England, scoring a record 25 goals at the national stadium - two ahead of Bobby Charlton and three ahead of Gary Lineker.

Only eleven players have played more times at Wembley for England than Kane and the match against Finland will put him level with Alan Shearer’s total of 35 games there.

Kane has scored five hat-tricks for England, with only Jimmy Greaves scoring more for the Three Lions in history. Kane’s hat-tricks have come against Panama, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Albania and San Marino; the latter saw him become the first player to score four goals in an England international since Ian Wright in November 1993, also against San Marino.
