ENGLAND MU17s: FIND OUT MORE

England men’s under-17s are in Albania for the 2025 UEFA U17 EURO Finals, where they’ll be looking to add another title and follow in the footsteps of previous squads in 2010 and 2014.

Neil Ryan named his squad for the tournament last week, and they kick-off their first game against Belgium on Tuesday 20 May (5pm BST). After that, they play Italy on Friday 23 May (7.30pm BST) and then face Czechia on Monday 26 May (7.30pm BST), before the tournament heads into the knockout stages.

All of England’s games will be shown live by UEFA.TV and also on the BBC Red Button for fans in the UK.

Ahead of the tournament, we caught up with defender Malachi Hardy who gave his lowdown on the rest of the group, in their squad number order.

We got Young Lions defender Malachi Hardy to take you through the squad player by player...

1. Jack Porter (Goalkeeper, Arsenal) - He’s a big personality around the group, for sure. Both on and off the pitch, he’s a really bubbly character, to be honest.

2. Brad Burrowes
(Defender, Aston Villa) - He’s quite new to the group, but he's a very energetic person on the pitch. Away from that, I think he’s quite a chilled person to be around. I think when you're looking for a bit of relaxing time, he’s probably a person you want to be with.

3. Dean Benamar
(Defender, Crystal Palace) - He’s a strong player on the pitch, with the way he plays and goes into tackles and he very much trains the way he plays too. You’d certainly rather have him on your team than be against him if you’re an attacker, that’s for sure.

4. Landon Emenalo (
Midfielder, Chelsea) - He’s a quiet person off the pitch, but on the pitch he's the opposite of that and he saves it all for the game. He's a strong presence, really likes to get stuck in and the opposition will know about it.

5. Kaden Braithwaite (Defender, Manchester City) - He’s quite a composed and calm person off the pitch and very similar as a player too. I think he holds himself in that sort of manner on and off the pitch so yeah, I think he’s a good, calming person to look to during games.

6. Jun’ai Byfield (Defender, Tottenham Hotspur) - Me and Jun’ai are very close and obviously I know him well from Spurs. He’s quite an excitable person and very bubbly off the pitch, but then on the pitch, he's solid and composed. I don't think there's many other players I'd rather play with.

7. Harry Howell
(Forward, Brighton & Hove Albion) - Harry and Freddie [Simmonds] are very close, as they’re both from Brighton and he’s a very good player. When he gets on the ball, that’s when he really comes to life and can make things happen so he’s an important player for us.

8. Seth Ridgeon (
Midfielder, Fulham) - He’s been our captain quite a bit and I'd say he's a leader as well. He’s a real box-to-box midfielder, and I think he's probably going to be the main runner of the team, getting up and down tackling and hopefully scoring goals.

9. Alejandro Rodriguez (
Forward, Olympique Lyonnais) - He’s probably one of the biggest personalities to have in the group. He’s very confident and I think you need that as a striker. He's not shy to take hold of a game and try to win it for us if we need him to.

10. Max Dowman (Midfielder, Arsenal) - I think he's probably one of our most creative players to have in the team, so he’s a great person to have around. He's a good character off the pitch too, and he's still quite young but he’s a big part of the group.

11. Reigan Heskey (Forward, Manchester City) - He’s a very good player and has had a good season at City too. He's another very chilled person and he’s pretty quiet off the pitch but when he’s on the pitch, he’s another main attacker that we are going to use very much.

12. Freddie Simmonds (Defender, Brighton & Hove Albion) - I think he’s a proper leader, both on and off the pitch, like 24/7 pro. Yeah, he’s a serious, serious player.

13. Lanre Awesu (Goalkeeper, West Ham United) - I'd say he loves being around the group and I think he's a really important person to be around the team. He’s a very funny character and he gets along with everyone.

14. Luca Williams-Barnett (Midfielder, Tottenham Hotspur) - Luca is a very talented creative player. We’ll want to get him in as many one-v-ones as we can, because I think he's probably better at that than most people in this tournament, for sure. Off the pitch, he’s quite an energetic person and just likes to be around the group. He gets along with everyone, so yeah, he’s a good person to have.

15. Malachi Hardy (Defender, Tottenham Hotspur) - Haha, I'd like to think I'm quite funny, but you’d have to ask the other boys about that. But I'll say I’m probably a leader on the pitch, so I hope they’d agree with that too!

16. Louis Page (Midfielder, Leicester City) - He’s another quite chilled person and I think he shows it on the pitch with his composure. Especially as a deep lying midfielder, I think it's very good to have someone that's calm and can control a game like that.

17. Ryan McAidoo (Forward, Manchester City) - Ryan’s a very energetic person, I think. He’s really quick so it’s great to get the ball in behind for him. Off the pitch, he’s very funny and definitely one of the jokers in the squad.

18. Finlay Gorman (Midfielder, Manchester City) A very, very creative player. I think he's someone who the team want to get on the ball lots because he’s very good on the ball. Off the pitch, him and Max [Dowman] spend a lot of time together and I think they’re quite similar in how they are. They like getting about and they don't like to sit around too much.

19. Rio Nguhoma (Forward, Liverpool) - A proper trickster and probably one of the most skilful players I think I've ever seen. But then off the pitch, I think he's a very bubbly person who’s always making a lot of jokes as well.

20. Harry Gray
(Forward, Leeds United) - Yeah, a very, very funny person. He’s quite a sarcastic person to be around, I'd say. But on the pitch, he’s a great finisher. He's always in the right place at the right time.

22. Freddy Bernal
(Goalkeeper, Chelsea) - Freddie has a real presence on the pitch, he’s a big voice when it comes to that. Off the pitch, I think he is a little quieter, but he’s a big part of the group.
