MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND 3-0 WALES

Morgan Rogers and Bukayo Saka were pleased with their individual contributions in England’s 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley Stadium as the pair played a starring role.

Rogers opened the scoring inside three minutes – his first senior goal – after being handed a start by boss Thomas Tuchel while Saka struck with 20 minutes played, rippling the net with a superb strike.

“It's a proud moment,” said Rogers. “It's a lovely moment, to do it at home as well in a home nation derby. It's a dream come true really.”

The game marked Saka’s first involvement with the Three Lions since an international match-up with Senegal in June and the Arsenal attacker is delighted to be back playing for his country.

“It's been a while,” explained Saka. “I am really happy to be back and be back on the scoresheet. It meant everything to me and I am happy to be back.”

And Rogers spoke of the competition in the squad with the midfielder battling for his shirt.

“The quality of players we've got, the people who are here, the people who are not here, you can never be too comfortable and think you've got a role because someone will take your place,” continued Rogers.

“It's just about keep progressing, keep performing, show what I can do and take it from there.”

And Saka asserted that England are heading in the right direction, with manager Tuchel now seven games into his reign, registering six victories.

“It was about moving the ball quick,” reflected Saka. “The gameplan we had was working, we just had to pick our moments which we did.

“You can see the manager's values and what he wants in the team and how much of a team he wants us to be. He makes it very clear.

“I think we showed that again today. I think he will be very happy with a big percentage of the game, maybe not towards the end.”

England are back in action on Tuesday 14 October (7.45pm BST kick-off) when Tuchel’s team resume their World Cup qualifying campaign with a game against Latvia in Riga.
