Young Lions to play Slovakia in Stoke

England men’s under-21s will take on Slovakia in their final home match of the UEFA U21 EURO qualifying campaign at Stoke City on Friday 2 October 2026 (7.45pm BST).

Lee Carsley’s Young Lions made a strong start to their qualifying campaign last term, winning six of their seven games as they aim to reach the 2027 U21 EURO Finals in Albania and Serbia.

As they head into the 2026-27 season, England are currently three points clear of Slovakia at the top of their group and a win against Kazakhstan in Wolverhampton during the September international window will mean a chance of sealing qualification for the Finals when Slovakia visit Stoke.

It will be the MU21s’ first return to Stoke City since April 2002, when they lost by 1-0 against Portugal in a warm-up game for that summer’s U21 EUROs.

England were due to return there in March 2020 to play Andorra, but that game was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
